Client gifts are read differently from employee gifts. How to tier your client list, what to spend, which gifts stay in use, and how quiet your logo should be.
Corporate gifts for clients do a different job from employee gifts. An employee gift says thank you inside the family. A client gift crosses a commercial relationship, to someone who could pick another supplier next quarter, and it gets read that way. The right one says you were paying attention. The wrong one says a vendor had a budget line to use up before March.
Most client gifts fail by being generic, not by being cheap.
We've packed client gifts from Sector 27, Noida since 2013, from small runs for a handful of key accounts to orders in the thousands for dealer networks. What follows is what we've seen work, in the order the decision actually gets made: who the gift is for, what it's worth spending, and how loudly it should carry your brand.
Start with the client list, not the product
Split the list before anyone opens a catalogue. Nearly every company's clients fall into three groups: a few strategic accounts that carry the business, a larger set of regular clients, and a long tail of partners, vendors and prospects worth keeping warm. Each group gets a different gift, and usually a different budget.
Tiering isn't favouritism. It's accuracy.
A key account that has worked with you for six years will notice when its gift is identical to the one a new prospect received last week. Tiers let you spend where the relationship is deepest, and stop you spending the same amount on the tail.
How much to spend on corporate gifts for clients
Use the four bands that cover most corporate gifting, applied to tiers rather than headcount. Every figure includes the branding.
- ₹150 to ₹450 for the long tail: a weighted metal pen, a hardcover notebook, a jute bag for event visitors
- ₹500 to ₹1,200 for regular clients, where temperature bottles, diary and pen sets and boxed copper drinkware all sit comfortably
- ₹1,500 to ₹3,500 for important accounts
- ₹4,000 and above for the few who carry the business, where each gift can be chosen for the person
Our guide to the best corporate gifts under budget walks through each band in detail. For clients the rule is simpler: spend more per head on fewer people.
Corporate gift ideas for clients that get kept
The test is whether the gift is still on the desk, or in the kitchen, three months later. These categories pass it most reliably.
For the desk
An executive diary and pen set in a rigid box is the classic for good reason. It's used every day, the client's own visitors see it, and the logo sits on the cover where a logo belongs. Nobody throws a good diary away. For people who hardly write any more, a desk organiser with a built in clock or a wireless charging alarm clock does the same job.
For the home
Home gifts work better than people expect. They reach the client's family, and families notice. Welspun towel and bedsheet sets, a good kettle, or dry fruits paired with a lamp or a clock all get used long after the festival that prompted them.
Tech from brands they recognise
For important accounts, a boAt speaker, a smartwatch or a pair of earbuds carries weight of its own: the client recognises the brand on the box before they notice yours.
Keep tech for the upper tiers. A cheap gadget that dies in a month, with your logo printed across it, does more harm than sending nothing at all, because it keeps reminding the client of you every time it fails to charge.
Something handcrafted
Copper drinkware in a printed gift box suits clients who value tradition, and it makes a good gift for overseas buyers on a visit to India.
Client gifts with your logo: how loud should it be?
Quieter than you think.
Nobody on the client side asked to advertise you. A large printed logo turns a gift into merchandise, and merchandise goes to the back of a drawer. The client gifts that stay in use carry the brand the way a good watch carries its maker's name: small, well placed, and applied in a method that suits the material.
- Laser engraving on metal bottles and pens
- Debossing on leatherette diaries, which presses the logo in without any ink at all
- A small embroidered mark on bags
- For your most senior clients, branding on the box and the card, with the product itself left clean
You see a physical sample with the logo in place before anything is produced, so placement gets settled on the real product rather than a mock up. Screens lie about size.
Check the client's gift policy first
Many large companies, banks and public sector organisations cap what their people may accept from suppliers, and some refuse gifts outright during a tender or a contract renewal. A quiet word with your contact before you send anything expensive saves both sides from a gift that has to be declared or returned.
When in doubt, send something modest and personal rather than something costly.
When to send
Diwali is the obvious moment, which makes it the most crowded one: your box arrives the same week as a dozen others. The New Year and the start of the financial year are quieter and get more attention. So do the moments that belong to the relationship itself, such as the anniversary of a contract, a project delivered or a new office opening.
Whatever the date, allow time for the sample. Production takes 7 to 14 working days after you approve it, so a festival order is best briefed six to eight weeks ahead.
Getting a gift to every client's desk
Client gifts rarely go to one address. We split an order across every client office, pack each box with a named card, and send each one with its own packing list, anywhere in India. If some clients sit abroad, mention it when you ask for a quote and we'll plan those separately.
Questions buyers ask
What are good corporate gifts for clients in India?
Gifts that get used and don't shout: diary and pen sets, temperature bottles, copper drinkware, home textiles from brands like Welspun, and branded tech for your most important accounts. Match the gift to the tier, and keep the logo discreet.
Can each client's gift carry their name?
Yes. Names can be engraved or printed on each piece, and every box can carry its own card. Say so when you ask for a quote, since personalisation adds a step to production.
What is the minimum order?
Most products start at 50 units, and orders run up to 50,000. We supply businesses only, and every piece is branded.
